After being diagnosed with PCOS in her early teens Manon struggled like many with the subsequent abnormal growth of bodily and facial hair. In an effort to control this she began waxing plucking, shaving and bleaching, with the culminating solution being Electrolysis which she began in August 2021. Upon attending the salon in September 2022, Manon had endured over 27 hours of pain with each session lasting between 1-3 hours per week. Leaving her face continuously scabbed and swollen with no impact to the hair growth. In attending her appointments, she was frustrated that she was provided with a different Beauty Therapist each time. Most with little to no experience in either hair removal nor the equipment in use. Again, she began looking for a more effective solution. After coming across Beauty Haven online and seeing that I have over 30 years’ experience in the beauty industry, coupled with the multiple positive reviews left boasting the striking results I have achieved through treatment she decided to book a consultation and attend the salon.

Manon attended the salon with a very visible full growth of dark and thick hair on her face. In discussing her history of hair removal, I was able to establish the reason the hair had grown so coarse was due to using methods such as waxing, plucking and threading which had stimulated and encouraged the hair growth. I explained that such methods work by shocking the hair follicle causing the root to become enlarged thus resulting in the hair growing in bigger and thicker due to an excess supply of blood being pulled to the follicle, which was only further exacerbated by her PCOS. Subsequently with regard to her specific skin type, hair growth and hair colour I advised that even with an experienced therapist electrolysis would not provide her with the results she was looking for and that laser would be most effective. She had previously been advised by a GP that laser would cause an increase in hair growth and was also unaware of the vast differences between IPL and laser so she was very hesitant to try it. However, in explaining to her in depth why laser would suit her specific needs my knowledge and experience gained her trust and she agreed to one initial session of laser.

Following Manon’s initial session of laser she was overwhelmed with the results. She had gone from shaving numerous times daily, to once a week in order to remove the remaining hairs. With my combined experience in hair removal and learned knowledge of my equipment I was able to reduce Manon’s facial hair by 40% in just one session of laser. Giving her the immediate visible effects, she had been searching for her whole life. During her session she was pleasantly surprised to find that the degree of pain with Laser was far less when compared to Electrolysis. If anything she advised she felt a mild- moderate discomfort, which was to be expected and has lessened over time. She also noted post treatment, that there was a far quicker healing process of only a day or two with Laser, in addition to there being no prolonged scabbing or swelling. Following this session, she had her second 8 weeks later and is now on her 5th. Due to the success that this treatment has had on the reduction of Manon’s facial hair, moving forward we have been able to decrease the frequency of her sessions to once every 2-3 months now. Laser has truly restored Manon’s confidence to such a level whereby she has stoppped wearing make-up and feels she no longer must. Currently she has 20% hair remaining which is extremely fine and weak and is more than happy to report that despite Laser not being the treatment she had initially wanted; I was able to give her the results she had always wanted.
